Derek Wheelock
NextGen Pastor
Pastor Derek comes to us from right here in Winchester. Before coming to Calvary Baptist, Derek served as the Youth Pastor at Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church in Stephens City, Va. He also was on staff at Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy as their Dean of Students. Derek studied at Liberty University where he received his bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry.
He has been married for 12 years and has three boys. Derek enjoys spending time with his family, and doing anything outdoors. His passion is to reach our next generation with the Gospel of Christ and train our youth through discipleship.
His life verse is, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21)

Charles Rock
Elder
Charles and his wife Kristi have been married for 28 years. They have four children and live in Cross Junction. Charles worked in secular business and program management before leaving to serve as a National Director with Prison Fellowship Ministries, the world’s largest Christian outreach to prisoners and those impacted by incarceration. After 15 years with PFM, Charles started an intentional break from paid ministry work. He is blessed to still be on this sabbatical and is grateful for more capacity to focus on serving here with his brothers and sisters at Calvary.
His life verse is, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Bobby Wheelock
Elder
Bobby's lived in the Winchester area since 1985. He taught for 15 years at Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy before leaving education to serve with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). As the Area Director for the Northern Shenandoah Valley, Bobby serves coaches and athletes across local middle schools, high schools, and colleges, helping establish FCA huddles, equip student leaders, teach God’s Word, share the Gospel, and connect the local church with opportunities to reach students for Christ.
Bobby's been a member of Calvary since 2018. He has one daughter, Hayley, and is grateful for the ways God has worked in and through their family. After losing his first wife, Ellie, to cancer, Bobby has experienced God’s faithfulness, grace, and peace in a very personal way. He is now engaged to Jeanna, and they look forward to being married in October 2026.
Bobby is thankful for the opportunity to serve the body of Christ at Calvary and desires to faithfully point others to Jesus in every area of life.
His life verse is, “Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

Cari Combs
Children's Director
Cari began serving as Children’s Ministry Director at Calvary in April of 2023. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Communication through Louisiana Baptist University. Cari has been married to Philip since 2005, and they have been serving together in children’s ministry since 2011. Cari homeschools their four children, and enjoys the blessings and challenges that teaching in the home and in the church present.

Kristi Rock
Church and Financial Secretary
Kristi and her family have been members of Calvary Baptist church since 2011. She and her husband Charles have been married 28 years and have four children. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech.
